Who We Are and What We Believe

Founded on a desire to see people of all national origins treated justly in our communities and country, IJAM is the only interfaith community organization solely focused on immigration issues in the KC metro area. Throughout history, religious communities and wisdom traditions, social movements, and people from all walks of life have stood against injustice and worked so that people can live safely, be treated fairly, and build better lives for themselves.
We acknowledge that our country’s immigration system is broken and unjust. As people representing a spectrum of faiths, we are united in our affirmation of the innate value of every human being and their right to be treated fairly and mercifully, regardless of their immigration status.
We are aware of the risks of this work, but we are sustained by our shared call to justice, our sense of community and the hopes of our immigrant sisters and brothers.
